The Ergonx Lithium is a podiatrist-designed safety shoe for people whose feet ache by lunchtime. It looks and feels like a running shoe, but it has a composite safety toe, a slip-, heat-, fuel- and oil-resistant outsole, and an orthotic arch-support insole built in from the factory. It's certified to Australian and New Zealand Standard AS 2210.3:2019.

What makes the Lithium different

Orthotic arch support, straight out of the box. Most safety shoes come with a flat foam insole. The Lithium comes with a contoured orthotic insole designed by Australian podiatrists to support your arch and help control over-pronation (your foot rolling inward). When your arch is supported, the muscles and ligaments in your feet don't have to work as hard, which can mean less fatigue across a long day.

Running-shoe cushioning. A thick, cushioned midsole inspired by performance running shoes absorbs impact with every step, so less of that shock travels up into your heels, knees and back on concrete floors.

Stability where it counts. An embedded shank and stiff board resist twisting through the midfoot, and a firm 2 mm thermoplastic heel counter locks your heel in place. Together with the arch support, that's the structure podiatrists look for in a shoe for heel and arch pain.

Lightweight composite safety toe. The fibreglass composite toe cap gives the protection of a steel cap without the weight. It doesn't conduct heat or cold, and it's airport friendly, with no steel toe cap to set off metal detectors. The toe box is square and roomy so your toes can spread naturally.

A sole built for work, not the gym. The outsole is slip resistant, heat resistant, and fuel and oil resistant, with a puncture-resistant layer underfoot. It's built for warehouse floors, workshops, loading docks and job sites.

Breathable knit upper. A woven, athletic-style upper keeps your feet cooler than a leather boot in the Australian summer, and a padded collar makes it easy to slip on.

Sizing: read before you order

Ergonx uses US Men's sizing, and every size option on this page also shows UK, EU, US Women's and foot length in mm. The most accurate way to choose:

1. Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall and mark the tip of your longest toe.
2. Measure heel to mark in millimetres.
3. Choose the size whose foot length is equal to or just above your measurement.

Women: the Lithium is unisex. Use the US W size shown in each option (US Men's 7 = US Women's 8.5, down to 246 mm foot length).

Is the Ergonx Lithium a steel cap shoe? No. It has a lightweight fibreglass composite safety toe, which gives steel-cap-equivalent protection under AS 2210.3:2019 but is lighter, doesn't conduct heat or cold, and won't set off airport metal detectors like a steel cap does.

Does the Ergonx Lithium meet Australian standards? Yes. It's certified to the Australian and New Zealand safety footwear standard AS 2210.3:2019. Always check your site's PPE policy, as some sites mandate boots rather than shoes.

Is the Lithium good for plantar fasciitis or heel pain? The Lithium is designed by Australian podiatrists with an orthotic arch-support insole, an embedded shank and a firm heel counter, which are the features podiatrists typically recommend for arch and heel pain. Many people with heel and arch pain find it more comfortable than a standard flat safety shoe. It isn't a medical treatment, so if your pain is severe or persistent, see a podiatrist.

Can I remove the orthotic insole? Yes, the insole is removable. You can swap in your own custom orthotic if your podiatrist has prescribed one. (Verify fit with your custom orthotic before a full shift.)

Is it slip resistant? Yes. The outsole is slip resistant, and also heat, fuel and oil resistant.

Is it waterproof? No. The breathable knit upper is designed for airflow and comfort, not water. For wet or muddy sites, choose a leather safety boot.

Shoe or boot: which should I get? Choose the Lithium if you work mostly on hard, flat floors (warehouses, factories, retail, logistics) and want sneaker-like weight and airflow. Choose a boot if you need ankle support, rough-terrain grip or water resistance.

How does Ergonx sizing work? Sizes are US Men's, and each option shows UK, EU, US Women's and foot length in mm. Measure your foot heel-to-toe in mm and pick the size with the equal or next-largest foot length.

Is the Lithium suitable for women? Yes. It's unisex, and sizing runs from US Women's 8.5. Use the US W size or foot length shown in each size option.
